Zach

Zach, the Official Hospital Cat
My name is Zach.  I am a DSH (Domestic Shorthair) gray tabby cat.

I came to Foothill Pet Hospital (FPH) in May 1999 after Dr. Rittenberg (Dr. Ritt/Dad) adopted me from the Ventura County Animal Shelter.

I was a bit older than most of the other kittens up for adoption, but Dr. Ritt still chose me.  One of the veterinary technicians there told him how special I was and that I was OK with loud noises and dogs.  With that news, Dr. Ritt was thrilled to take me home with him.  Dr. Ritt figured Lisa would like me too.  But, just in case he could be wrong, the first thing I did when I got to their home was to run up to Lisa and give her a big kitty hug.  And, that was it, she was sold too.

In reality, I am the FPH Official Hospital Cat.  But, besides greeting people and patients and just “hanging out”, all I really have to do is sleep and socialize with Bru.

On weekends and holidays, I go home with Dr. Ritt and Bru.  I get to hang out with Lisa, Bru, and their two other cats (Squirt and Ben).  However, with Dr. Ritt’s long hours, I actually see him at work much more than at home.

For fun, I like greeting clients, checking out the various patients (although sometimes they don’t like me and the staff has to tell me to leave), watching all the comings and goings from just the right vantage points, looking out windows, and sleeping in my special bed.
