Brittany O'Connor

Brittany

Brittany joined our staff in August 2009.  While she attends UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) full time as a Zoology major, Brittany works at Foothill Pet Hospital (FPH) part time.  Brittany is very interested in gaining veterinary experience and learning all she can.  Her ultimate goal is to attend veterinary school.

As with our other technicians, Brittany’s primary functions are to ensure patient well-being and care, assist Dr. Rittenberg (Dr. Ritt) and the head technicians with exams and treatments, assist clients with their pets during their time at FPH, and maintaining hospital cleanliness.  Also, some of her other tasks include assisting with the taking of x-rays, getting patients ready for procedures, performing treatments on patients, and performing in-hospital tests.

Due to school studies and living with many roommates, Brittany’s only pets are two brine shrimp in an ecologically balanced globe environment.  She has named them both, and Dr. Ritt loves to kid her about their imaginative names.  Brittany named them Shrimp and Shrimpy.

In her limited spare time, Brittany enjoys reading books on fantasy, learning American Sign Language, volunteering at Heart’s Therapeutic Equestrian Center, helping with research on bird behavior at UCSB, being active in the UCSB Pre-Vet Club, and playing with Bru.

Dr. Ritt says Bru truly looks forward to Brittany days at FPH.  He loves playing with his SpongeBob toy and Brittany.
